CT Elation Sauna — Eastern White Cedar

A barrel sauna with a flat floor — which sounds like a small thing until you stand in one. The curved hull is what makes a barrel heat quickly and evenly, but a curved floor is what makes them awkward to live in. The Elation keeps the barrel and gives you solid wood underfoot.

Built from premium Canadian white cedar, with two front-facing windows in bronze tempered glass and a heater choice that runs either way — electric for convenience, wood-burning for the version of the ritual that involves splitting kindling. Seats four inside, with a bench on each side of the door outside for cooling off between rounds.

Canadian Timber Construction

• Canadian white cedar — naturally rot-resistant, dimensionally stable, and low-conductivity so benches stay comfortable at temperature.
• Solid wood flat floor — level footing throughout, unlike a conventional barrel.
• Cedar bevel siding — adds R-value and sheds water off the hull.
• Ball-and-socket stave profile — the staves tighten as the cedar takes on moisture.
• Two front-facing windows — bronze tempered single pane, 5 mm, plus a glazed door.
• Two outside benches — mounted either side of the door.
• Wood or electric — one of the few cabins in the line configured for both.

Delivery & Assembly

The Elation ships flat as a kit and is assembled on site. The crate measures 96″ × 45″ × 44″, so the constraint on your delivery path is 44 inches — not the 96-inch finished barrel. Assembly is a documented, step-by-step build with pre-drilled holes throughout; a cordless driver, mallet, staple gun and nail gun cover most of it.

Site Preparation

The base must be level with a slight slope to the back for drainage. Crushed stone, paver blocks, a concrete pad or a wood deck all work. Build the base larger than the sauna footprint so there is somewhere to sit and cool off between rounds.

Heating

With the recommended 7.5 kW electric heater, the Elation needs a 240V 40A double-pole circuit, hardwired by a licensed electrician. Larger heaters require a larger circuit — confirm the requirement for the heater you select.

Configured with a wood-burning heater, no supply circuit is needed for heat, but a chimney kit is required. Wood-burning appliances carry clearance, flue and local ordinance requirements — verify with your local fire marshal before ordering. Note that the interior height is 81.5″, and some wood heaters specify up to 50″ of clearance above the unit; confirm the stacked height of your chosen heater against that figure.

Living With It

Left unfinished, cedar weathers naturally to a silver-grey under sun and rain. This does not harm the wood or affect performance — it is what cedar does. Livos Alis exterior oil is available if you would rather hold the original colour.

Some minor water seepage through the top and sides is normal in an outdoor barrel and comes from the porous cedar and the ball-and-socket stave profile. It evaporates once the heater is running. Sweep the interior regularly and wash benches with warm soapy water a few times a year. Never use ammonia or harsh cleaners — they turn cedar grey.

Warranty

Products designed and manufactured by Dundalk LeisureCraft Inc. carry a five (5) year residential limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use, beginning the date the product is received by the original end-user consumer.

The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, improper installation, insufficient or improper maintenance, natural weather conditions, or failure to follow the manufacturer's installation, usage, or care instructions. Valid claims are fulfilled by replacement parts at no charge; replacement does not extend the original warranty period. The warranty is limited to replacement parts and does not cover service, labor, or installation costs.

All electrical connections must be made by a licensed electrician. Failure to comply voids the warranty.

Heaters carry their own manufacturer warranties. Electric heaters are typically three (3) years excluding elements, rocks and sensors; LeisureCraft TimberGlow wood heaters five (5) years and Narvi wood heaters two (2) years, each excluding glass door, ash grate and rocks; all chimney kits five (5) years.
